Greetings!
It's a time of remembering, but also, of letting go. We honor the cherished memories of our dear animal friends who have left our sides during the last year. They will always be part of who we are.
And as we approach the end of December, it's also a
time to embrace the promise of the future, with hope and joy and
expectation.
There
is so much that we can discover about our animals, and ourselves,
through telepathy and what I call, "telempathy," the process of tuning
in to our creature companions with love and compassion.
I
invite you to join me on this journey and look forward to taking it
together, as the year unfolds. It's a time to believe that all
things are possible, and if we really do believe that, those things we
hope for can come true.
It
is not just former racehorses and pleasure horses who are in
jeopardy. In October, the U.S. Bureau of Land Management
announced an ill-conceived plan to "euthanize" the more than 33,000
wild horses it had rounded up. Thanks to public outcry, and the
brave efforts of Madeleine Pickens,
that won't happen. Ms. Pickens is in the process of buying vast
open lands on the western prairie, to ensure that endangered wild
horses will always have a place to roam in safety.
We
don't need unlimited financial resources to make a difference. We
just need to care, and express our voices, one at a time. We can
each speak out to ensure a humane future for animals, great and small.
Along these lines, I will be conducting a 10 Shelter Tour
of no-kill humane societies and rescues for cats, dogs, and horses in
the New England area, starting in January. My visits will be
chronicled in words and pictures on the Animal Translations Blog.
Watch for this upcoming series, which I hope will bring more attention
to the individual faces and stories of animals awaiting adoption.
And finally, I'm just thrilled to announce the debut of a project that I've spent the last few months preparing for: The Animal Communication Book Club! Announced
on Christmas Eve, the Book Club will be a place to find reviews of
books about animals and our relationships to them, as well as monthly
interviews with animal authors of noteworthy offerings.
Membership is free! You don't have to buy anything--just enjoy!
I extend very best wishes to you and your animal companions for a wonderful new year!
From my heart to yours,

Ghost Cats
Human Encounters with Feline Spirits
by Dusty Rainbolt
|
What
is it about cats that so captures our imaginations when it comes to the
paranormal? According to author Dusty Rainbolt:
"Our cats seem to live in that mysterious realm
between the natural and the transcendental,
betwixt the living and the dead."
Cats
do seem to dominate the literature about phantom apparitions, and if
you're endlessly fascinated with their uncanny--and sometimes
eerie--appearances as translucent beings, then Ghost Cats: Human Encounters with Feline Spirits is for you.
Unlike Kim Sheridan's Animals in the Afterlife,
which chronicled afterlife visitations from dogs and cats who came back
to the people they knew and loved, not all of the ephemeral cats whose
stories are documented in Ghost Cats are
known to the people who see them. Some inhabit hotels and public
places, and the author even includes a list of "locations that may have
ghost cats," in case you'd like to go in search of them.
According to Ms. Rainbolt:
"There's a mystery and a tension that comes with cat entities when
you never knew that cat in life. I selected these tales for their
strangeness. In most cases, the people featured in the stories were
visited by ghost cats they'd had no connection with. Why did these
cats come back? Did they select the people to haunt, or were they
simply trapped in their place of death?"
Often,
the spirit felines are encountered after a family moves into a new
home. The cats' previous human companions may have vacated the
premises, but these kitties aren't going anywhere. Some of them
may not even realize that they have passed into another
dimension: they continue to play with living cats and dogs and
jump up on tables and beds, and on occasion, even make distinctive
mewing sounds that can be disconcerting, indeed.
Most
of the people whose stories are told in this enjoyable volume had no
prior experience with ghosts or spirits. They are not psychic,
they don't possess special powers, and they seem to have "an easy
acceptance of the occurrence." Ms. Rainbolt notes that:
"Few people felt threatened or disturbed by the dead kitty's appearance.
People usually felt blessed and happy about their cats' spiritual return,
while they might have gone into a complete panic had a dead parent or
spouse shown up instead."
Having
recnetly lost my beloved cat, Casey, I've been hoping that she might
reappear--even fleetingly--to reinforce my belief that she continues to
live on another plane, albeit one where I cannot see or touch
her. Ms. Rainbolt's deep understanding of the bond between cats
and their people is what gives Ghost Cats its power, and what prevents it from being just another compilation of scary stories:
"During their lives with us, cats act as our companions, caretakers, nurses,
counselors, and even entertainers. And after that all-too-short life comes
to an end, their absence leaves a huge hole in our lives. Nothing will ever
be the same. You feel incomplete, empty.
But that spirit who loved you so unconditionally in life continues to love
you despite that vast invisible gulf that divides you."

Animal Communication Tip of the Month
Sometimes,
I hear something from an animal that makes me wonder if I got it
right. The tidbit of information might be incongruous or just
seem not to make sense.
If
this happens to you, my advice is: hold on! Don't assume
that just because the message you've heard didn't make sense to you, it
isn't true, or that you misunderstood the animal. There might be
a perfectly good explanation!
Here are a few recent examples of what I mean, from my own practice.
All
I was told about a pretty calico cat named Marcie was that
she had been diagnosed with a terminal illness. Marcie wasn't
focused on feeling sorry for herself, though--she wanted to talk about
all sorts of things, including the fact that she likes pizza! I
honestly thought that I must have misinterpreted this part of Marcie's
message, and was hesitant to share it with her person, Sandy. But
I always try to accurately convey an animal's true voice, so I told
Sandy about Marcie's pizza vision. She laughed, and said that at
her house, Friday is "pizza night," and as soon as the steaming pie is
served, Marcie jumps into the warm pizza box and luxuriates there,
while everyone else is eating!
Even
more amazing was the session I did with Rowdy, a husky mix who lives in
the western suburbs of Boston. Near the end of my consultation
with him, Rowdy suddenly showed me an alligator, and indicated
that it was in Florida. As you can imagine, I was puzzled by this
reference, but dutifully wrote it down.
When
I told Brenda about the alligator, she immediately gasped in
disbelief. She told me that she had recently seen a piece on
the news about a Florida man who had been attacked by an alligator, and
had commented aloud on the story, sharing with her dogs her opinion
that the guy wasn't too smart to have been swimming in an area where
alligators are known to be lurking. Rowdy had not only understood
what she'd said, but he was able to telepathically project the
alligator's image to me!
So
it's important to keep your logical mind in check when you communicate
with an animal. Try not to censor the information you
receive. Just let it flow, and as always, keep an open mind.

A Word of Thanks From an Appreciative Client
Kruzer
is a young horse who lives with a loving family in western Massachusetts.
I communicated with him after he displayed some inexplicable behavior.
After the sessions, his person, Beth, wrote:
"I am amazed! The connection you made with Kruzer is amazing. I understand 90% of what you said.
You've nailed all of the emotions we've all been going through in the last week.
Thank you for all your help."

Last Issue's Survey Results Do You Use Telepathy with Your Animals?
Eighty percent of those who responded said that they have used telepathy to send a message to one of their animals.
And their animals responded in amazing ways!
Interestingly, most of those who participated in this survey talked about their mental communication with their cats:
"I had a cat who couldn't walk. When he was in a
different room, I would try to read his thoughts, so
I would know if he needed something from me (such
as to use the litterbox or move his position)."
Another cat companion shared a touching bedtime ritual:
"I would ask my cat, 'Molly,' to cuddle with me when
we would go to bed. As soon as the lights went out
and all was quiet, she would jump into my arms and
'cuddle.'"
A
cat who shared her life with one of the other respondents took it upon
herself to act as a guardian angel, understanding that her person's
life might be in jeopardy:
"Before I was diagnosed with sleep apnea, my cat, 'Tiggs,'
would paw at my face at night because my breathing was
very shallow. I think that she was worried that I wasn't
breathing. Once I got treated, she never did that again."
When
asked how they knew the telepathic message was really coming from their
animal, one person beautifully described exactly how it feels:
"I get a thought in my mind that I know is not my thought.
I know that it is Cleo telling me something."

As always, the results will be shared in a forthcoming issue.
Can Animals Reincarnate?
Do you think that animals can reincarnate?
Have any of your own animals ever come back to you in the body of another animal?
Was the reincarnated animal the same species and breed as your animal who had died?
Was
there something absolutely uncanny about the reincarnated animal that
made you sure that he or she was really the embodiment of your previous
animal?
Can you share an interesting or astonishing story that might help us to understand what happens when an animal reincarnates?
I'd
love to hear about your experiences! Please share your opinions
and stories--they'll be summarized in next month's issue!

What's Up With Your Animals? |
There
are so many ways to communicate with animals, as these stories
attest. Animals are natural telepathic communicators, and it's
because they're so good at it that I can "hear" them. If you think that you and your animal would benefit from a telepathic consultation, please drop me a note or give me a call.
Until Next Time! Maureen Harmonay |
